Like all Vignettes in The Age of Decadence, this is essentially linear; it is simply the sequence of events which delivers The Map into the hands of a specific character-type (in this case, the Loremaster).

Quick Walkthrough

  1. Talk to Feng.
  2. Obtain the map from Gracius.
  3. Accept or deny the request made by Innkeeper.
  4. Return to Feng with the map.
  5. Start Loremasters' Rivalry.

Detailed Walkthrough

  1. Talk to Feng.
  2. Obtain the map from Gracius.
  3. Accept or deny the request made by Innkeeper; accepting unlocks Prospector's Amulet.
  4. Return to Feng with the map; learn his master's true name.
  5. Next: Loremasters' Rivalry.

Tips

  • Before you speak to Feng, be sure to examine the contents of the back room:
    • Either one of the Documents will immediately add 10 SP to Lore (the second one will do nothing).
    • If your Perception is at least 8, the Boxes will add 10 SP to Lockpick.
    • The other objects (Chest, Desk, Goblet, Junk) simply provide hints as to Feng's academic interests and professional integrity; they contain nothing to add to your Inventory or Skills.
  • This is the only opportunity to start Prospector's Amulet:
    • Accepting it doesn't interfere with your current task in any way - and even at your most shrewd there's no way you can afford the Item until later - but it is worth checking ahead, in case you want to start with the skill necessary for a preferred outcome.
